Learn & Play

I've greatly enjoyed working through the steps of this program. I still have a few more Things to do, but my thoughts about L&P will be the same. It's been a great opportunity for me to have reached out into the internet and challenge myself to learn more. Blogs aren't so foreign anymore, and I get to follow my friends and keep up with their happenings. I now have a good idea of what it's like to be intimediated by technology and the relief that comes with finally hopping on the clue bus. I hope that next year brings another L&P so that I can continue to discover more about the awesome and vast amount of things to do on the internet. Yay!Photobucket

You Tube

Oh yes, this video was well worth my time...my thanks to my bro. I haven't been to this site much, but it's a bit easier having looked through it today. If I'm having a low day, at least I can watch vidoes like this and grin ^_^.

wiki's

Ok, I have used these from time to time when I want to get specific information about a manga I'm reading. I keep in mind that the information can be added by anyone and may not always be accurate. I also look at the other side of the coin and realize that someone's opinion could actually be more interesting than mine. The layout of wiki's makes them easier to understand. I can see in an outline what the wiki contains, not wasting time on fruitless searches. As I continue to explore and reach out into the information highway, I will have one more source of information in my toolbox.

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile, but I think I got it right. Ok, for the future, I'm not sure what the fate of paper books will be, but I do know that no matter what the format, libraries will always exist to aid the public in obtaining information. Even online libraries will be available. I imagine my favorite online library (for individuals), LibraryThing, as a working library. I have the ability to search others' collections to get recommendations and to see just how much of a (manga) otaku I really am. I absolutely love collecting, and now that I've worked through the beginning steps of L&P, I have even more fun ^_^

Ah...

Photobucket

This is how I'm feeling today. My ex is trying to get back into my life while playing games. I'm trying to be strong...I'm still trying to accept my loss of Hikaru, so I really don't need anything else on top of that. I can only take so much, you know? I began to read Library 2.0, but I need more time (and a more calm mind) to do that. I really am curious to read about the future of libraries...and a bit apprehensive about the future of paper books.

Hikaru

Ah, my baby, my daughter....I wish you the best of luck with your new family. I am so sorry that we couldn't have a life with the two of us together, but at least we can both go on living. You will always be a part of me...I love you and miss you, my baby, Hikaru.

I have it at last...the uncanny ability to link all my beloved hobbies together. Above, of instance, is a perfect depiction of my kitten-cat, Oreo. Oh, yes, yes, he's looks i.n.n.o.c.e.n.t., but we are not fooled. I find that it's easier to keep track of things with this webtool...but I'll have to get into it more later. It's almost time for my shift to end here and for my next shift at JoAnn's to begin.

RSS feeds and libraries

I finally was able to link the new book catalog for CML to my bloglines account. It's almost time to head out for the day....and I was just given a picture of Hikaru, my German Shepard that I had to give to a new home. As I type through my tears, I am grateful for the caring people I work with everyday ^_^

Twitter

eeeeeeeeks! It's taken me FOREVER to figure this out. Thanks to Nancy, I finally have. I was able to post some tweets, follow a few people & CML L&P, mess around with my profile photo, and am now blogging about it so I can finish up Thing #12. Twitter seems like a fun thing to do...I just wish I had a computer at home so I can get more into it. I'm not sure yet how this will enhance my life, but I'll keep searching the site and blog about my findings. whoooo hooooo!

Another round of fun

I tried a feeble attempt to resist, but I found myself curious about another hip-hop name. This one sounds pretty cool to me, so I'm posting it for the world to see : CHIEF SLIMS. I tried to find RSS feeds at B&N.com and Borders.com, but I didn't find any. Gah! I even tried to subscribe to a manga feed, but it isn't showing up in my list of feeds on bloglines.com. I'm running out of time to do this blog for today, so I'll just wrap things up here. Here's my mood at the moment :

RSS feeds

Oh, good golly. This has stumped me for weeks, so I hope I got it right. Here's a sweet link to my bloglines : www.bloglines.com/public/gwendelanathas. Hopefully it works. I'm not too clear on how useful RSS feeds are since I only use the computer at work...but it was easy to get updated on one my favorite cartoons, "Get Fuzzy," because I subscribed to it.

Image generators

Yesssss...I finally am able to attempt to get caught up on these "things" we're supposed to be doing. It took me awhile to figure it out--what I wanted to say on the image--but I made it through in one piece.

Here's where I had all this fun : http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/.

LibraryThing

Oh, dearie me. I have spent too much time today trying to figure out how to connect my LibraryThing account to my blog. I also had to delete about 400 manga because I've had to sell them to survive. Gah. Ah, well. I just tell myself that I can always get them again...I have ALWAYS enjoyed the hunt for manga. Now I can add them to my catalog instead of deleting them. There, I just cheered myself up!

How I would like my life to be.

Time, time, time

Things will be calming down now that I finally have a 2nd job. This picture feels like a good representation of all of my moves in the past 6 months.

iPod Shuffle

This is my one piece of technology. Woooooow. I so wanted the pink one, too, but I'm not sure they make that color anymore. I could probably find it on eBay. Anyway, having newer technology is frustrating. A tape player works with only a bit of electricity and keeps going and going and going until it finally breaks years later. Now, I not only have to have electricity to charge my iPod, it has to be a USB port...in a computer...which I don't have...I can't update songs without the iTunes' software...which I can't download onto the library computers...sooo, to make this long story short : my fancy-schmancy iPod is sitting on my kitchen counter, waiting to be charged. So much for my one piece of technology...at least I still have my tape player.

This is one sweet photo. It brings back many memories of the various dance clubs I've been in. Fun, fun! I'm also digging this because it looks like something I'd be so happy snoozing away the evening in. Hopefully it would be big enough for Oreo and Hikaru, too...

Lesson #3 for CML

I would have to say that the most challenging habit of the 7 1/2 would be using technology to my advantage. The most up-to-date piece of technology I own is an iPod shuffle. Alas, I don't have a laptop to even update it. Oh, well. I hope that these lessons will bridge that gap for me, because if there's an easier, more-efficient way of doing something, I wanna know!!
Now for the easiest : I accept responsibility for my own learning. If I don't learn the lesson myself, even if it's a painful one, it won't sink in. I won't blame others for my mistakes.
